Are white collar workers paid too much?

Corporate lawyers, executives, patent developers, financial sector workers, etc. Are they paid too much when compared to blue collar workers? Should people who focus on being wealthy (by competing fiercely, take risks, earning prestigious degrees and becoming workaholics) be paid more for their efforts than people who focus on doing something they love (who work just as hard)? Would you subvert capitalism for a new system, where the skills that are especially in demand (often those that require an advanced education) do not offer significant financial incentives? Or do people who seek wealth, and do what it takes to earn it, deserve to be wealthy?
