My period or popped cherry?

Ok so earlier tonight I was masturbating but using a highlighter and couldn't anything else. I looked down and saw blood on the end of it and freaked...I am not a virgin and I don't think he broke my hymen so Idk if it was my period that started or my hymen breaking. Plus I have NEVER had my period before...like ever so Idk what it is. Please don't judge and please help! :)
