Am I gonna get jailtime?

Please no smartass answers. Only answer if you seriously know what you're talking about and are willing to give some good advice. Last night some friends and I went out with 3 mortars and put them in 3 seperate mailboxes. They all launched out onto the ground and then blew up causing the mailboxes NO harm or damage whatsoever. We were headed back to my apartment when a guy began to follow us and continued to make every turn we did for almost ten minutes. We had just started to pull on the interstate when a cop pulled us over and said that we had been reported for vandalizing mailboxes. We admitted to it and he said he was gonna let us go and that we had better have learned a lesson. He also ran our licenses and nobody including me has ANYTHING on their record. He said he had to go wake up the people who we did that to and see if they wanted to press charges and that it'd be up to them if they did and he took all of our numbers. I have no idea how he wouldve known who to wake up because none of the mailboxes were damaged at all. I do realize that what we did was wrong but we were not out to hurt anybody at all. Did he just take our numbers to scare us or will we actually hear back from him? It's been 24 hours now and we've heard nothing. If he does talk to someone and they do wanna press charges what kind of penalty are we looking at? Again, PLEASE only answer if you can be civil.
